Marcy Daniels MSW, RSW
As a mom and wife, I know first hand how tough, and rewarding, relationships can be. I’ve learned that loving someone is not always enough to make things go smoothly and that getting help can make a big difference.
My best hope is that therapy will help you find new ways to live life and do relationships well.
I specialize in helping couples who feel like room mates rebuild connection and communication in their relationship.
I’m also skilled at working with couples who are recovering from betrayals by helping them rebuild trust and heal from the pain.
I work with women who feel exhausted, anxious and overwhelmed to find a sense of balance so they can experience more joy in motherhood and life.
What will therapy with you be like?
If you’re considering coming to see me for couples therapy, it might increase your confidence in the process to know that I’m one of only a few therapists in Nova Scotia with advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. I am in final stages of being certified by the Institute for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and actively participate in ongoing training, supervision and learning to continuously grow my expertise.
The data on the effectiveness of EFT is pretty impressive. Research has found it to bring about improvements for 90% of couples who go through therapy and help 75% of couples from distress to a close, connected love relationship. Because of its proven effectiveness, it’s considered to be the ‘Gold Standard’ in couples therapy.
I love working with women who are struggling with feeling anxious, overwhelmed and totally imperfect, but who keep it together so well on the outside, that no one would guess that on the inside they are falling apart.
Rocky relationships, the mayhem of motherhood and the chaos of life can be so disorienting, especially if your go-to coping strategies are to paste on a smile, work harder and do more. As a ‘recovering’ perfectionist, I’ve learned a thing or two about finding peace in the unexpected twists and turn of life.
Your journey will be different than mine, but I want you to know that I believe you’ve got the resilience and the courage to learn how to live with more joy, authenticity and self-kindness.
I bet that sounds good, but if I know anything about you, you’re already wondering how that could be possible.
Our work will be practical; I’ll help you get clear on your values and together we’ll come up with strategies to live in alignment with them. Our sessions will involve learning of skills you can take into your life and work on between sessions.
It will also be educational. I’m a bit of a neuroscience nerd and love helping my clients (and myself!) make sense of why we do the things that we do. I’ve learned that sharing this information with my clients helps them beat themselves up less and be more committed to the change process.
Our work together will also be emotional. I come to my work from an attachment perspective, knowing that deep down we all need to feel secure and loved. I will help you learn to deal more effectively with your emotions, build deeper connections and find healing from past hurts.

Clients with such insurance may be able to be reimbursed for some of the costs of services. Clients are responsible for checking and understanding the details of their own policy to insure the limits of their coverage. I am only able to direct bill certain Blue Cross, Green Shield and SSQ plans. I issue a receipt for services that clients may submit for reimbursement.
